EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma required, CNA, SRNA or CMA preferred.  Excellent guest service, communication and multitasking skills required.  Possess a true passion to serve and a desire to help every patient.  Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a Call Center (medical field) preferred.  Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).  Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.  On the job training provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Answers incoming calls promptly.
    • Answers routine questions and forwards calls to appropriate person, including emergency calls
    • Greets patients at each visit in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
    • Perform clerical duties, such as typing, proofreading, accepting orders and sorting mail.
    • Schedules appointments according to clinic protocols.
    • Takes messages obtaining patient’s name, DOB, and phone number. Demonstrates the ability to communicate clear and concise messages.
    • Responsible for handling and managing calls through the TTY equipment to assist hearing impaired patients
    • Distributes incoming and outgoing faxes and scans and files information into EMR.
    • Provides backup for front desk, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Forwards medical record requests to appropriate department.
    • Assist patients with paperwork or check-in process to include verifying or entering the following:  patient demographics and photo, insurance, employment/income, emergency contact, pharmacy and guarantor information
    • Verify who is responsible for the patients’ account.
    • Reads and follows directions of all billing alerts
    • Set up and/or verify coverage correctly with carrier and through IE.
    • Collect co-pay, co-insurance, and/or deductible amount.
    • Informs patients of sliding scale self-declare forms and notifies Outreach worker
    • Knowledge of check scanner and credit card machine.
    • Correctly post patient payments and generate patient receipts
    • Tallies copay received for the daily encounter report
    • Checks and balances cash drawer: maintains no overages or shortages
    • Notifies clinic manager of patients needing financial counseling
    • Reports problems or irregularities to clinic manager
    • Monitors waiting room for movement of patients
    • Keeps waiting room neat and orderly
    • Provides coverage in the absence of other employees as needed
    • Other duties or assignments as requested by supervisor or management
